Growing up, our ice cream maker was the hand-crank type which seemed to take forever to make. While hand cranking, I often wondered if the end treat was worth the trouble… But when I am eating the homemade ice cream, it is totally worth it! Ingredients Needed: 1 cups heavy whipping cream 2 cups half-and-half 1 cup sugar 2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 eggs ¼ tsp. salt Important! This recipe was made using a gel-based automatic ice cream maker. It requires you to pre-freeze the canister for several hours prior to making ice cream. Directions: Add the whipping cream, half-and-half, eggs, salt sugar and vanilla to a large bowl. Using a whisk or electric mixer, beat until well blended. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight, if making ahead. Follow your ice cream maker’s instructions for churning time. Ours needed to churn in the pre-frozen canister for about 25 minutes. Makes about 1 ½ quarts of ice cream. ...

...  mousse cake is a treat to eat but can be hard to make. Most chocolate mousse recipes require eggs and a more complicated preparation process than this one. Of course, some may say because I don’t use the traditional ingredients that isn’t a mousse. But I dare you to try it…it’s absolutely delicious and you’ll be pleased at how easy it is. Ingredients Needed: 1 teaspoon gelatin powder 2 tablespoons boiling water 1 cup whipping cream 1/3 cup sugar ¼ cup cocao powder, sifted 1 teaspoon vanilla Directions: Chill a mixing bowl and beaters for about 20 minutes. In a small bowl, mix the gelatin and boiling water. Mix thoroughly with a spoon and then set aside. Place the whipping cream in your mixing bowl and beat on high, until peaks start to form. Add the sugar, cacao and vanilla and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Stir in the gelatin and place in refrigerator to set for about 1 hour.
