Here’s a good story about how an “accident” with a recipe turned out really well. In the 1930’s, Ruth Wakefield was experimenting with a new recipe for a chocolate dessert. When she tried to make it, she saw that she had “failed” when the chocolate chunks wouldn’t melt in the batter. Of course, today, we know that her failed experiment led to the most popular cookie in the world — the chocolote chip cookie. The story continues… Ruth Wakefield owned and operated the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. She served her accidently recipe and it became an instant hit at the Inn. She later sold the chocolate mixture to Nestle, who now owns the Toll House trademark. I’m no Ruth Wakefield, but I do have a chocolate chip recipe to share with you.
