Here is a recipe to make fried bananas (turon) Filipino style!
Ingredients Needed:
1 liter of cooking oil
Lumpia wrapper (egg roll wrapper)
½ kilo of brown sugar
12 dozen ripe saba (banana plantain)
1cup of jackfruit sliced into small pieces
½ cup of cinnamon syrup
Directions:
First, separate the egg roll wrapper into pieces. Then start peeling the banana and cut into 3 slices lengthwise. In each egg roll wrapper, put two sliced banana, spread the jackfruit and the brown sugar top of the banana, carefully wrap and roll it into egg roll. Fold the two sides and seal the ends with egg white or water.
Heat the clean deep frying pan, put the 1 liter of cooking oil until it gets hot, lower the fire and slowly put in the turon to fry. Wait until it turns golden brown and crispy. Add sugar into the oil to have caramelized surface for your turon. Remove the turon into pan and set aside in a strainer or wax paper for a minute.
Then spread the cinnamon syrup on the turon while it’s hot and serve!
